Hello Fellow Cat Lovers:

I've got a 10 year old what a lot of big little man kittie that has
some kind of skin problem in the middle of his back.  He's
constantly licking the area and this has resulted in a loss of
fur that has revealed a black patch of skin.  The area is very
sensitive and he defends it vigorously, but I have been able to
touch it briefly, and found it to be smooth.  It appears to extend
beyond the bald spot in an irregular pattern, but it's hard to get
a good look at it without getting bit or scratched.  It's solid black
in color.....kind of like a bad bruise, but it seems to be getting
worse.  Any ideas?  Should I be alarmed?

He's Kind of a cross between a Persian and a Siamese;  blue
eyes; black points.

Thank you for your response.

PLEASE take your cat to the vet!  The fact that your cat is unhappy with
this patch is reason enough.  The other reason might be a Melanoma.  Does
your cat sun-bathe a lot?  For the moment, keep your cat indoors in the
shade.  But, above all else, make that Vet's appointment.

Sorry if this is alarming, and truly hope that your kittie will be okay.

My cat had a similar problem. Turned out to be an allergic reaction to
fleas. She didnt have the fleas but one of my other cats contracted them and
broke this one out. With antibiotics it cleared up, along with spraying the
house for fleas and giving the others a flea bath.

A house full of fleas.  I'll bet that was nice to live in.  Why didn't
you just get rid of the cats.

I didnt say the house was full of fleas...btw, you must not like cats very
much...any one who loves cats would not get rid of them because of fleas.

Oh, boo hoo, I was hopin' for an invite to dinner.  Probably better off
anyway, I'd die of cat hair inhalation and be sucked to death by fleas
anyway.
