Does anybody have any advice on how to wean 2 x 9 week old kittens on to
solid food from milk?

Are they orphans?  Otherwise, your only job is to provide the appropriate
solid food for them to begin sampling.  Weaning will be done by mom.
Usually they're into her food by this time.  If it fell to you to mother
them, just encourage canned food about 3 times per day, leave some kitten
formula dry food available for them to explore snacking on, a bowl of water,
and begin progressively reducing their milk or cutting it with water.  If
they were younger, you would mix a bit of their formula with a bit of canned
food.  Try this if you're having trouble.   Surely at 9 weeks you're not
bottle feeding.  Hope this helps, but more information about the dilemma
would make it easier to respond.
