Here's a follow up to my lengthy post of a few weeks ago:

Well, the results of the endoscopy and biopsies are back. Not only does she
have IBD, but , she also has cancer. I forget the particular type, but it's
in the large intestine, close to where it attaches to the stomach. The vet
says we could do Chemo, but, it's close to $3,000 and for a cat her age, he
says it may only allow her to live 1 or 2 years longer, if it's successful
at all. She's on a couple of meds, an antibiotic for the IBD, and
Prednisone for the cancer, I guess maybe to help with inflamation or
something. Anyway, I asked how quickly this type of cancer spread, and he
felt that between 1 and 12 months the time would come to put her to sleep.

So far, she still seems happy, and she is maintaining her appetite. We are
just going to keep an eye on her, and when she seems in pain, can't eat, or
is really lethargic, I think that will be the end of her time (at least for
this life). He says the medications will help some with the urgent-pooping,
but not much. At least now I know why she's doing it and I won't be angry
at her when it happens.

She's lived a very good, and up until this point, healthy life. She's been
well loved and well provided for. It will be sad when the time comes, but
I'm happy knowing I've given her a good life.

Thanks for the info here; I've appreciated it! I'm glad I decided to spend
the money on the procdure. Now I know exactly what is going on with her,
and can try and make her last months happy ones. On a related note; she is
eating her crushed pills in wet cat food, something she never gets. Well,
she has decided that wet cat food is wonderful :) I guess there is no harm
in giving her a bit extra now.

Thank you for the update, Bean.  I'm so sorry that it wasn't better news.
:(  I'm glad that you felt that it was money worth spent.  I had a hunch
you'd feel that way regardless of the results.  Not knowing is usually what
drives you nuts.  In any case, I do understand what you're going through.  I
have a ferret that has cancer right now and Insulinoma and it's just a
waiting game right now.  She's on oral pred right now.  Give your kitty a
pat on the head for me.
