Hello all,

I thought this would be the best place to ask this.  I need to get
rid of my cats for a number of reasons.  They are both adult cats,
about 4 and 5 years old.

I need to get rid of them because we just moved into a new house and
had a new baby a little over a year ago.  Ever since then the cats
have been spraying and pooping all over the house.  So far we've had
to replace the living room carpet because the smell was so bad, and
we're going to have to do the same to boht my daughters rooms.

I've tried everything to stop it.  I've changed their litter more
often, I've gotten them a new litter box, I've gotten the hormone
liquid that is supposed to stop cats from spraying and such in certain
places and used it repeatedly, but nothing seems to work.  I just have
a feeling that there has been too much change and nothing I'm going to
do will work.

I don't want to get rid of them, but the fact is I can't allow my
family, especially the 1 year old, to live in unsanitary conditions -
so I feel I have no choice but to get rid of them.  Now my question:
What is the best way to do it?

My wife doesn't want to give them to the pound, but I don't know if
I'll have a choice.  Any suggestions?

Put you kid up for adoption, keep the cats,

Steve.

Have you taken the cats to your vet? At least then you can rule out
medical reasons.Your vet might have additional suggestions or a referral
to a behavourist that could help. I would recommend limiting the cats to
one room. That would limit the damage area, and might help lower the
stress level and give the cats time to adjust to the new situation. Keep
the baby out of the "cats" room as well. Then slowly reintroduce the
cats to the rest of the house, and to the baby. make sure to give the
cats as much attention as possible as well.

Good Luck.
