Please don't misunderstand; we all like to see pictures of cats, but you
must understand that posting them directly to the group is not allowed as
this is a non-binary group. You can only post pictures to a group that has
"binary" or "binaries" in its name.

What you need to do if you want people here to see them is post them on a
website somewhere and give us the link.

Hi Jack and Ramona,

Please don't leave.

We'd love to see pictures of your cats, just not the way you are showing
them.  If you would like to show off your kitty photo album (which many
would like to see), either include a link to your kitties' album in your
post, OR post the pictures to alt.binaries.pictures.animals  (or other
binary (picture) newsgroup).

Then,  write a post here, stating you posted your pictures in a particular
binary news group, and tell the subject (name) of your post in the binary
newsgroup.

The way you are posting the picture now, everyone has to see the picture
(i.e. open a bigger file... and some people post really big picture files).
The other way, the people who want to see the pictures can, and it doesn't
upset people who don't want the bigger files in a non-binary newsgroup.

Take Care, and you do have beautiful kitties!

Feel free to post your animal pictures in alt.binaries.pictures.animals. If you'd like people from the cats ng's to see them, you can post a message here and people will go and check them out.

Screw the ones that don't want to see cat photos. They need to leave. This is
a PETS website-subtitled CAT PETS.You really do need to take the helpful
advise though.I'm not very computer savvy as I am teaching myself and
can't help you. I certainly enjoyed your kitties when you sent them to my
e-mail as an attachment.Otherwise I couldn't bring them up and I saved
them in a folder so I can see them anytime I want. They meant that much to
me. Please don't leave us.   DEW

I was here first, so get used to it.

This is not a website, it's a newsgroup. Research the difference.

Obviously. Gosh, I hate arrogant newbies.

IIRC the binary group servers can easily handle the
large file sizes (usually 15K-500K).  Nonbinary servers
have to push out smaller older messages (1K-5K) to
accommodate binary files.  The time the servers spend
sending binaries is also much larger so there's less
available for nonbinariesl.  Hence the otherwise
meaningless different treatment of pictures.

I did like "Can't See Me."  Pee Wee does something like
that, puts his head under the blanket but his rear
sticks up in the air.  Kind of like hiding a rhinoceros
under an umbrella.

Rarely am I rude on a newsgroup, but someone really took a big crap in this
guy's coffee this morning.  And he called DEW arrogant? Oh, puh-lease!

What does being here first have to do with anything?  I do believe that in
life, the majority rules.  At any rate, it is the newsgroup rules that count.
Even better, DL Darnworth gives us the technical information at the bottom
of this post which impact a newsgroup.  MUCH better than some

I believe that the idea was there........ who really cares what it is
called?  DL Farnworth did a very good job of explaining why one should not
post large files to a non-binary news-group.  You're the one who needs to do
some research.

DUH....................and you were never? Now you are just arrogant.
Everyone is a 'newbie' at some time.  Most people just outgrow the 'arrogant
jerk' part and forgive others their so-called mistakes.   At least she is
doing something about her lack of computer experience.

I can confirm Dew's statement, as she mentioned this to me in an email just
a short time ago :)  Hopefully that will mean something to you.  I do not
know her personally, just through this group, and I am not trying to 'butter
you up'. *s*
Don't leave the group just because there are rules about something like
posting large files (I am assuming this, not having read them *g*)- - - If
you just post a link to the photos for us (which I believe you HAVE done
previously), then we can go look for ourselves.
I understand about wanting to post pictures of your furbabies - - I like to
do that too *s*
