Congratulations on your new 'grandchildren'! :)
I am glad to hear everything is okay - - I just finished reading the other posts and was quite concerned - - I haven't heard of a cat acting that way before. The fact that she was attacking you seemed that she was protecting her babies......the other stuff, that was what concerned me!
If she is very young, that would explain the "not knowing what is going on". When I was about 15, my 'teenager' cat Woodstock had kittens before she was a year old. She had two of the babies in the snow as she crossed the yard, completely clueless as to what was happening. My dad ran behind her, scooping them up, warming and cleaning them. He had to help her out as she was not prepared for this event. Those were the days before spaying and neutering were common words.
I hope the 'children' are fine! How many are there? Some cats do not want to eat or drink immediately after giving birth.....just give her a little time. She should drink water by now, though. Dehydration would be a real worry by a day after.
Pearl is a very pretty name! Give her a little time to settle down. She is obviously very protective of her babies.
Ha ha, now might be a great time to quit smoking *G*
Keep us updated!
Mel

Hey ,don't panic everybody.Pearls o.k.She is just trying to protect her
babies. How quickly they forget--yesterday I was helping her deliver
them--today she thinks I have turned into a tom cat.She is eating now and
doing fine[babies also].It got hot[91 degrees]today and I needed to close
the blinds in my office--I had to wrap a jacket around my legs and climb
on top of the counter to do it.Then I ran out of cigs and you get one
guess where they were. It took me 20 minutes to get them.I'm not going in
there again or someday someone will find me in a shredded heap.

Hi Mel.Glad you found my post.Yes ,about the cigs.I am trying to quit.Tried
pills and patches.Running out again today, so going to give it another
whirl.Been doing it so long and just now getting over a long period of
intense stress.Maybe I will succeed this time.Pearl has calmed down a
great deal now.Yesterday was hell.I recently had a plumbing leak inside
the wall of my office bath, which I managed to fix, with great
difficulty. One of the hazzards of living way out in the country
alone.Anyway, I managed to get in there yesterday with no objections from
Pearl but I had to get a hammer way across the house in the familyroom and
she followed me. When I got in the F.R. she jumped up on my leg and sunk
all four sets of claws in me.End of bathroom repairs. I'll let her be the
boss for the time being.Have missed talking with you.Where do you live?

I'm so glad she's OK. Having had two females in the last couple of
years who required emergency C sections, I always expect the worst.
The queens I've rescued have always been starved for affection from
humans but they will attack and rip apart any other cat that they can
find. She must think you're a tom cat. Perhaps you were in a former
life.:)

She is calming down.I made it into my office long enough to push my message
key on the answering machine today.I'm still not brave enough to try and
get to my desk but we are making progress.I imagine if it were possible to
change from an animal in a previous life into a human it would also be
possible to come back with a gender change as well. Who knows?
