If yes, is red meat better than white meat?
Thanks.

Personally, I would say no, unless it is given to the cat live!
(Cooking it will kill any nasty bacteria that has had chance to grow from
the time the aninal dies, to the time you feed it to the cat)

Don't really know on this one, except around 20 years or so ago when we
had 4 cats, they used to eat raw stewing steak and it never seemed to do
them any harm.
I don't cook much these days so never tried my present moggy on it,
although she loves turkey slices (she'll eat your last sandwich if you're
not watching..!)

I don't think it matters much if the meat is fresh and you grind it
yourself. However, bear in mind that raw meat does not have all the
necessary nutrients a cat needs. Check out this link for a recipe to
prepare raw food at home:

There are also some vendors that sell frozen raw diets for cats. I tried
a bag of patties and my cats hate it. :( Just because one thinks it
would be tasty for a cat, doesn't mean the cat will find it tasty...

In general, white meat is more often contaminated from the store than red
meat is. My cat decides for himself if the meat is bad more accurately than
I can. I generally offer only cooked meat after I have had my share (the
dog gets the stuff that is too big or tough for the cat). begging is not a
nuscence in these particular pets.
Funny how he always seems to know which bag from the grocery store has the
meat dept stuff in it.

Raw meat is actually better. It keeps several of the amino acids from
denaturing so the cat can absorb the nutrients better. I forgot the
scientist's name, but he did a study on feeding raw vs. cooked. This is
why the B.A.R.F. diet has become so popular with breeders. Just do a
google search for "Barf diet" (Bones And Raw Food). You can still feed
them cooked meat but they are more likely to develop cancer, especially if
it is their only intake.
