We got a new cat from the Humaine Society a month or so ago. She is doing
well with the family, has been vet checked and all is well. She is a spayed,
2 yr old, indoor only calico. For the last week she has been excessively
cleaning her face with her paw, to the point that she has worn the fur off
of her head above her eye (eyebrow area). The spot is a bit smaller than a
quarter. It is even a bit red from all of the rubbing.
Could this be dry skin??  nervous habit??  Any ideas.... Should we stop her
from rubbing it when we see her doing it?
We are watching it closely but are ready to take her back to the vet to have
it checked out.
Thoughts??

It would be a good idea to take her back to the vet incase it is an
irritation due to ring worm, ingrown eye brow, bacterial infection, fungus,
allergy, thyroid, stress, mites other things. Is she protected against fleas
with Advantage, revolution or Frontline? Has she been checked for leukemia
and immunodeficiency ( FeLV , FIV ) , often causatives of skin disease?

I think we'll do that. Yes she is protected from fleas with Advantage. She
hasn't been checked for leukemia etc yet as out vet advised us to wait 6
weeks after leaving the shelter to test for those - so we have 2 more weeks
to wait.
