Avoid Hartz Advanced Care at all costs. Use of this product has resulted
in intense suffering and death for many animals. My own veterinarian
routinely advises his clients against using Hartz, noting that he's had
to perform emergency procedures over the years on literally hundreds of
cats and dogs who have been poisoned by it. Most didn't pull through;
the majority of the ones who did will be plagued the rest of their lives
with health problems as a direct result of its use. More info is

Gee, glad I asked. Thanks Noon Cat Nick. I'll stick to what I've already
used on them, Advantage, at least their still alive.

The Hartz flea collars that I put on my cats caused them to lose their
fur, and burned their skin really bad. I wouldn't put a Hartz collar on
my worst enemy.

I've had such a lucky escape!!!!
My cats have flea collars (they are indoor cats but Sarrasine in
particular seems to be a flea magnet) combined with a regular cycle of
spraying bedding etc etc with an appropriate insecticide. This works
most of the time especially since Johnson's came up with "4fleas" an
oral medication that kills fleas within 24 hours. (and luckily neither
cat seems to mind pills)
Anyway I digress....
Just before Xmas I nearly brought Hartz flea collars for the pair of
them- all that stopped me was that they each have their own colour for
their collars (When they were very small it was a quick and easy way
to tell which kitten was doing what they shouldn't be doing!) and the
Hartz weren't the right colours so I went with the Johnson's that I
use normally even through they were more expensive.
I mean they sell this stuff in our local branch of "Tesco's". It would
never occur to me that a company could sell these things and get away
with it!
I certainly hope they don't and I am just so glad that I've never used
their products and I never will now!!!!
Thanks for possibly saving my cats' lives and the odd thing is I
usually hang around the rec ng's and I just wandered over here because
I was a bit bored at work!

Anyone use "Revolution" for fleas? Is it OK? Not OK?

It kicks butt in spades.
Here is sunny FLA (where every bug that walks the earth comes for vacation),
we found a stray kitten (about 5-6 weeks old, this was just after 4th of
July so we figger he was scared and ran, then got lost from mom). He was
covered, I mean eat-up and miserable with fleas. We took some revolution,
cut it down in amount for his size, and dabbed it on. Within 24 hours he was
flea free (say that three times fast). He was inside, and we never saw a
flea (that was a year and a half ago).
We have four cats now that are inside-outside, revolution every month,
never--and I mean never--see a flea.

Have any of you tried Revolution? It's only available thru the vet, but is
relatively inexpensive (around $5 - $7) easy to apply ( a few drops rubbed
into the skin at the base of the skull to avoid contact). It is absorbed
into the system, and controls not only fleas, but ear mites, ticks and other
predators as well. It's worth a free phone call to your vet. I've used it
our 3-cats since it came on the market and have yet to see a flea - IN
FACT ---- if it hadn't been for this stuff, we probably would not have saved
a malnourished, parasite infested 5-week old a couple of years ago. She was
so eaten up by fleas and mites, the vet thought she might die from anemia -
today, she weighs in at 10 lbs..fatass cat :-)

I have given my cats Program for 9 years. We've all been quite happy with
it. Does anyone else use Program?

I used Advantage on both my cats for years with no problems.

I use Frontline on my cats and dogs. I don't have to use it according to
weight on my cats and it seems to last longer than a month.
