Hello newsgroup :-)

Last time I wrote here, in october, it was very bewildered as my beloved 12
years old cat, Tetsuo, had just died from a disease.
I will keep him in my heart forever, he was my first cat and much like a
child to me...

Anyways, it's been now 2 months since a new cat is living with us !
This cat was supposed to stay at our house for only 2 months, as he belonged
to a friend who was looking for a solution as his cat kept fighting with his
other smaller cat, pushing it to leave the house. His cat was supposed to
move to the countryside at the beginning of february after his stay at our
place.

But now, it has been decided, the cat is staying with us :-))))
He is almost 2 years old, orange with white paws, short legs, a short tail,
and a big round body.
He has beautiful orange eyes too !
And his mouth is so pink ! He looks like he maybe had his nose broken when
he was a baby, he snores sometimes.
He is a huge cat (I think he weigths something like 7 or 8 kilos !), he has
a tattoo in his ear, he doesn't wear a collar and has a very large strong
neck, with a big round head :-)

This cat was fetched from an association by my friend, it seemed like he was
not well treated when he was a baby, but he has a good nature and starts to
trust us as his new family.

He was named Attila by our friend (and before that named Vidocq, and named
Miel too by the association), but we renamed him Kumquat, and he answers to
Kumquat much better than to Attila :-)

When he arrived, he spent a long time under our bed, he always lay with his
back against a wall, he was easily startled, and very nervous.
But he gets better and better now !
Is is sweet to see this cat open up : he lies on his back, with all paws
relaxed, and every morning, he comes on the bed and purrs purrs purrs, walks
around on us to get hugs, all this lasts something like 10 minutes, then he
leaves.

Once, he did something very strange : we had a fight with my husband, we
were talking loud and mean, and Kumquat came and sat on the floor between
us, looking very bothered by the bad vibes. Then he started pacing the
stairs, as we kept discussing at the bottom of the steps. Suddenly, the cat
tried to jump through a small window that's in the wall of the stairs, but
the window was closed !
He flopped against the glass (luckily, with the paws first, not the nose or
the head !) and slid down the wall to the stairs.
It stopped us cold ! We found ourselves so silly, and embarrassed that we
had distressed this poor cat :-)
Yes, cats are sensitive to human moods ! Now we are more careful :-)

So, I hope this cat is going to have a good life here with us :-) I will
post from times to times to tell you what crazy thing he has invented, or to
ask for advice if necessary.

Thanks again to the people here who wrote me helpful and kind mails when my
Tetsuo was sick and dying. :-)

Stig

PS :  There is something very strange too that I should mention : when my
cat died, I strated to search for cat paintings, or cat stuff on ebay, and I
bought a painting called "Hysteric Cat" from a spanish painter. It showed an
orange cat with white markings sliding down a wall head first, it is a very
funny painting.  But it is only LATER that our friend asked us to look after
his cat Attila (that I had never seen before), and now our new cat looks
just like the painting ! Weird !!!!

I'm happy for you, Stig!  And for Kumquat!  He's a marriage counselor, as
well, and will see to it that you and your husband remember to speak with
civility from now on.  ;)
