Hi, I love my cat.. but the biting is becoming unbearable..

he's a good cat, but if I try to pet him, he just goes for my wrist and bite
(hard)... he's just about 6 months old.. full of energy.. has lots of toys.
but when I try to pet him or brush him, he bites... I've tried squirting him
with water, but that doesn't help, he actually likes the water..

My hands are filled with bite and starch marks..  He's cute and loveable..
and I love him.. but I really have to find a way to stop the biting.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Whenever you have a cat problem, start thinking like a cat:what would
another cat do in this situation. The solution with biting ispretty simple:
SCREAM. Cats have sensitive hearing and hate loud piercing noises, such as
female/kittenlike high pitched screams. So basically everytime your cats
start remotely biting you, EVEN IF it doesn;t hurt, you start screaming, and
scream like someone has just poked your heart with a knife! Im serious!

What will happen is that the scream will startle the cat who didn't expect
it! So he will turn and look at you instead of biting you. You'll see his
ears turning as the noise is probably like the banging of pots and pans to
us :) So keep doing this EVERYTIMEand I mean everytime he bites you, and
within a week, he'll create the negative association that biting = scream so
no thanx :)

I trained all mine this way, and it took them all less then a week to figure
it out  and all of my friends are most impressed at how well trained my cats
are :) Well I think all cats should be:)

OT: I done that to the kids the other day. They were doing my head in with
all the fun-yelling and screaming and took no notice of my cries for less
noise. So I went to the kitchen, took 2 pots, cripped up behind them and
banged the pots together as hard as I could! They were stunned! Then I said
"Oh sorry did the noise bother you?" When they dared give me a dirty look
and said "yes, it was too loud" I said "well your noise bothers me as well
so can you lower your voices a lil and i'll put the pans back in the
cupboard" :) It worked! :)

Another suggestion if you'd rather not scream (don't want the
neighbours phoning the police) is to hiss at her.  Loudly.  Bare your
teeth, make a face and look right at her.  Hissing seems to be the
universal cat signal for, 'This is not cool.'  It works every time with
my cat when I want to get the message across that whatever she's doing
is frowned upon.

  Just a quiet alternative...  :)

its all about how you approach him, don't do it when hes in
"Play Mode".  When cats are in play mode, everything is a bitable
target no matter what, so dont pet him until about 15 minutes
after hes done playing and hes all chilled out.

try this, walk up to kitty, stick out your hand flat and let him sniff
your fingers, then dont look into his eyes but look at something else
and say thats a good kitty and slowly reach for his ear, and rub his
thin ear between your 2 fingers lightly, saying thats a good kitty
(or something you allways say when kitty is good).  then slowly work
your hand to another part of his head.  You'll soon learn of parts
that kitty doesn't like touched/scratched under any circumstances
(for my cat, its his belly) and just avoid those. also, only pet kitty
for 1-2 minutes, any longer and he'll get pissed off (if he starts
moving his tail when your petting him, that means hes starting to not
want to be petted any more, so stop or get bit :)

hope this helps!
