Don't know what a pound is worth other than, over here about 16 ounces. I
had to pay $60.00 US but in my state you also have to get them their shots
if they haven't had them, so my total bill was $93.00. What is the exchange
rate, something like 1.5 dollars to the pound or 1.75?

Here's a link to keep so you'll never have to ask a similar question again

Stone,

       $10.00 US equals 5.36 pounds.
As for the cost of spay/neuter in the UK, I would suggest that you call
your local vet or animal hospital. I'm sure that they will give you a
quote over the telephone.

I would say that vet bills, like house prices, vary depending on what part
of the country you live in.

It should be between ?30 and ?40 at private vets. You  take a cat in the
morning and take her home in the afternoon :) Just call couple of local vets
for a definite price

That's covered by the NHS isn't it?

Unfortunately, most cats will have several litters by the time they get
seen by a doctor.

Unfortunately not, NHS is just for the humans. But if you are unemployed you
can get them done for much less ? at RSPCA/BLUE CROSS/Cats protection leage
and other animal charities.

Unfortunately. But not necessarily, both mine girls were done before they
had a litter.

don't mind me - just kidding around and going by what rumors I've heard
about NHS from several thousand miles away.

And no, I'm not a big fan of socialized medicine.

My little boy is being "done" on Friday for £28.79,  My mate is having
her little boy done at another vets in the area on Thurs for £32.  Can I
also recommend having your cat microchipped at the same time, some vets
even give you a discount for doing both things at the same time, mine is
£5 less!

Justto add, microchipping is brilliant idea, mine are all done, and it costs
around ?30, and 1/2 minute painless work  :)

And it works well. Last week at the Cats Protection shelter where I
volunteer, a cat that had been brought in was reunited with his owner due
to the microchip. He'd only been missing half a day..!

My two best moments working at the shelter are when a big long haired
ginger gentleman with FIV was rehomed after having been tormented and ill
treated by his previous "owners" children and dog, and when I homed
another FIV+ cat who had been with us for several months. The lady who
took him said that as soon as she got him home and let him out of the
carrier, he started walking around the place as though he'd always lived
there..! It really felt good knowing I'd introduced them to each other :-)

Totally agree! It is only gonna cost me £15 for him to be microchipped
tomorrow.  My pony is also microchipped as well as being freezemarked.

Sounds like that's the normal price. It cost me 30 quid to get my 2 moggies
chipped. I just wish that when the Mogwai went AWOL whoever was feeding her
took her to the vet for a check up. He'd've scanned her and phoned me
straight away.

WOW! Where did you guys get such cheap microchipping from? I'm in London,
and all of mine cost ?30 each for microchipping at private vets! I do need
to do the newest addition as well, so would really like to know where to get
such cheap microchipping of ?15?

Gloucestershire!  It was £14.79 as I had him done same time as he was
neutered but even so the standard price is only £20 round here,
regardless of species. Use a different vets for my pony and that was
still £20.  Try ringing your RSPCA, our local one used to do cut price
chipping every so often.
