Hello all. Happy holidays to everyone. I have a half Siamese/half tabby and
was curious about a few things. He is going on six and seems to talk so much
now it is unreal. Every time I am on the phone, he seems to get mad and meow
for long periods of time while starring at me. Whenever I go to pet him or
talk to him, he meows at different pitches and sometimes has quick meows and
other times long groaning meows depending on his mood. Is this normal for
all kitties or am I the lucky parent of the world's most talkative kitty? He
is very healthy and is quite active for an indoor kitty. My entire place is
filled with his toys and he gets more attention than I care to mention. Do
they more talkative as they get older? He was pretty quiet in his 'younger
days'.

The siemese breed is known for there talking! I would think that if he is other wise healthy then maybe he is just communicating with you.
Erik - 28 Dec 2004 20:28 GMT
He is communicating with me all of the time. I even have to get up in the
middle of the night and play with him sometimes to get him to simmer down.
He always has to sit right next to me and ends up laying on my chest when I
go to sleep. I wouldn't change a thing though. I never knew it was possible
to have so much love in my heart.

I have a siamese at home ( shes preg now) when I got her she was so shy her previous owners son beat her she sufferend massive internal injuries and such. she has since came aaround and is always near me. She loves to talk, She talks to the t.v. to the radio, my husband sya she is definatly my cat because she never shuts up. We have a game we play were I pretend to ignore her she will get on my lap and pat me on my nose all while "talking" very loudly. My chest is pheniox favorite spot to. Youare right you about love it is amazing how much you can love them

I love the game we play too. I hide aroundthe corner and he stalks me. When
I peek at him he freezes up and becomes an instant statue. Then when I poke
my head back he leaps in the air and confronts me. I gasp as if I was
surprised and he runs from me and we repeat until he feels it's time to
stop!

Arn't they great. Just like little kids, When I take my cats out for walks, they are so well behaved but bring them home and they have no idea how to act. I love them to death though, I cant imagine life without them.

My kitten loves to play this game too,  I can hide behind doors, under
covers or even just put my hands in front of my face and he will stalk
me, then the minute he gets close enough he jumps up, gently attacks me
then runs off for another go. This keeps ME occupied for ages.  Also
play a similar game where I hide behind something and call his name, the
second I hear him get close I jump out and he pounces on me!

IMO  Cats do not understand the concept of the telephone.  He probably
thinks you are talking to him and he is answering you.   MLB

I would have to agree, but anything where I am not paying attention to him,
pisses him off. Who knows. Either way, he's spoiled rotten and I would not
have it any other way.

I'm not so sure about that, my friend Stephanie has a cat Myrtle (!) who
loves to talk on the phone, every time she rings me up I have to spend
some time talking to Myrtle too ;-)

I have a maine coon like that. When he wants out at night, he has a special
quick meow that he uses when he notices that I am turning in my sleep (and
thus close to being awake).  When he wants food, or petting, WOW he talks up
a storm. When he is getting petted, and I stop, he has a special call for me
(while looking me right in the eyes). If he is awake, he is usually talking.

I have a cat that is some type of siamese and he talks all the time, so get
used to the talking, mine talks for everything.  Someone was talking about
sleeping on your chest, mine sleeps in the bed with me and my wife right
between us too.  He's a good cat though, having to get used to a new kitten
though and that isn't going well.

Let me know how the kitten deal works out. How old is the Siamese?

He is between 2 and 3 years old.  We lost count.  We think he is about 2 and
a half.

wanted more food.
