We have a slight problem with our yongest cat oscar who is about 5 months
old.
Our windows are just the normal open type ones (smaller part opens at the
top etc). And lately OScar has this thing where he jumps up and sits on the
frame of the window if the window is open.
This is starting to get us worried, as even tho we have started to make sure
that if a window is open we make sure that when its open the gap isnt big
enough for him to fall out. Theres still the worrining thought that if a
window was open a tad too much he could fall easy fall out and end up
killing him self if he full from the upstarts window.
Weve no idea where he has got the idea from to do this, as whe have never
shown him, or put him up next to the window, our outher cat used to do it in
the bathroom window, but dosent do it anymore and hes never done it whilst
we have had oscar (its all most like our other cat casper has told him what
to do).
We cant think what to do to try and stop him, as soon as we catch him doing
it, we take him off straight away and we tell him of by telling him hes been
naughty and pointing at him, but he just starts to purr lol.
Has anyone else had this problem before.

Basically, cats like windows, especially if theya re indoor cats. They can
see all this intereting moving things outside, predominantly birds. And yes,
they will jump out to catch them.
I don;t think it's fair preventing them from sitting on the window. It's
like somebody telling you you can;t watch the TV ever again. But you must
restrict the windows openings. there are things to buy depending on the
windwos frame. Ask in local DIY store. Or make a wire mesh extra "window"
which I did, so they can be safe, and I can get some air.

Also make sure you use aluminum screen, and not the fiberglass, as they'll
shred fiberglass screen *very* quickly. :)
