Greetings,

I will spare you the details of the reasons, because it's all a long
story, but just trust me when I say that according to my special
circumstances and location, it is EXTREMELY hard to find a Tom (male
cat) for our Queen ( female cat). And for personal reasons, we do not
wish to neuter her yet; we also want to have kittens from her before
neutering her.

We should get the male cat very soon, maybe even in a day or so. And
our past experiences with other males who came for our female cat were
very bad and unsuccessful. Our cat disliked them very much and the
males didn't eventually get to be brave enough to mate after all the
clawing and screaming from our female cat.

This can be her last chance to mate in a looong time, and she is in
her heat and keeps calling for a male all the time. But if this time
she acts aggressive too, and indefinitely discourages the
unexperienced male to mate with her, then it will be very sad for us
and her, too. We'll have to get back to using those pills for her.

The call for help is:
please help us anyone, give us as many tips as possible to make this
mating go as smoothly as possible. So far, I heard that I should let
the male roam about the apartment for a while, and lock our cat in a
separate room, until he gets used to the environment and us. Maybe
even offer him some food. And that I should try to introduce them to
each other with--at LEAST--one of them in a cage, so that they can
check each other out without too much fear or worry.

If someone has better tips, or new ones, please tell us. We really
want to make this mating attempt successful. How can we minimize
aggression from the side of our female cat, and maximize the chance
for them both to mate as smoothly as possible? Any certain pills or
medications we can give our cat? Certain methods or things to do?

Thanks for anyone taking the time to help.

Sincerely,

Yasso

If you have a female of the right quality for breeding IME it's not hard at
all to find a suitable stud. May I ask why you want kittens from her?

Possibly she's trying to tell you something.

How old is she & what pills have you used? Sounds like she should be spayed
as soon as she comes off call.

The female should visit the male & a maiden queen should go to an
experienced stud.
Having a competent breeder on hand who can "read" the cats behaviour is a
great help.

Don't bring a male in -if your female is from good pedigree stock ask her
breeder for help & if she isn't please give up the idea of kittens. There
are plenty of kittens looking for homes.

Well, there's a very good reason that you are having a hard
time finding a stud -- responsible people who own studs don't provide
stud service to just anyone.  You'll need to title your queen and do
the appropriate genetic health testing before most will even consider
it.  What breed is she?  This will also make a difference in ease of
stud service.

????  Females go to males, not the other way around.  As well,
your girl is telling you that she doesn't like other cats -- not even
enough to follow her biological imperatives.

How long have you been using birth control pills for her?  And
did you say that the male is unproven?  You might as well call his
owner and save them the trouble of shipping him -- I'd be willing to
bet quite a bit that mating is not going to be happening.

These are great suggestions if you are trying to introduce a
new cat to the household to live.  They are pretty much worthless when
dealing with breeding cats.  One of the reasons that females go to
males is that males need to be comfortable and confident in order to
attract the female -- which they are not when taken out of their
territory.

To be honest, it sounds like a losing proposition.  If your
female is that aggressive towards other cats even when in calling
heat, she's not going to mate successfully.
