Lost the original thread on this subject.  My cat is sensitive to the touch
on her back near the tail. A few of us are wondering what might be causing
them to lick like crazy when touched back there.  I called the vet and they
said to bring the cat in, said that they get skin allergies and if left too
long they can lose their hair and suffer other more serious complications,
said it can get messy.  I take the cat in Friday Dec 3rd and will let you
know what they say.

Hi
I think that was my post.
But my cat doesn't seem to have any skin problems! Does yours?

Don't know, she loses control, jerks her head and then goes into a licking
spat when touched back there.  I decided to call the vet because she can't
seem to get comfortable. She is a gray and white short hair, yet her fur is
so thick I can't separate it enough to see the skin. It has gotten a bit
worse lately. On the positive side, she felt good enough to go out hunting
yesterday. I'd rather be on the safe side and taker her in.

Thanks Gary
Be interested in what the vet has to say!
Sounds exactly the same mode my cat gets into, but as you say certainly not
a sick pussy at all.
Eats, plays & sleeps as usual, just that weird frantic/compulsive lick!
