Just this past Sunday(8/10) we found that our cat of 8 years was missing
from the
house. She rarely goes outside and only if we are outside as well and even
then
she will run back into the house at the slightest noise. On Saturday though
I let
our other cat out. I assume that is when the missing cat got out as well.
The thing
is in the past if I left a cat outside they would be waiting for me the next
morning
to be fed. On Sunday I went and opened the door and sure enough the other
cat was there. I didn't think that the missing cat had went outside so I
didn't look for her until later. Once we realized we had not seen her in a
while we searched the house from top to bottom and no cat. I have searched
the neighborhood, posted flyers and even went mailbox to mailbox. Nothing.
Not one of our neighbors have seen her. I called and reported her missing to
our county animal shelter and SPCA, but nothing yet. My only guess is that
someone picked her up, which I don't see because I really don't think she
would have strayed outside our fenced in backyard, or she has died somewhere
in the house. I doubt it since we've scoured the house. Anyone heard of
something like this?

Thanks,

dmw

Hi Dean

This is an repost of mine from before:

Don't give up looking for your cat.
Our Simba disapeared for 26 days once and 24 days the second time.
We have no idea where he was the first time, but the second time we found
him inside a locked garage, in the floorboards between the first and second
floor.
He could have at least crawled out of the floorboards, but couldn't figure
it out.
Anyway, if your cat is an indoor cat, and you can't find him, I know of a
guy that has a tracking dog, though he didn't do so good with Simba.
However, Simba was an outdoor/indoor cat up until this last time, so his
tracks were all over outside.
I can dig up the # if interested.

However, here is what I would do.
Walk the neighborhood calling his name, looking around homes, gragaes,
sheds, etc.
Be sure to cover every square inch and listen very carefully.
We just happened to hear Simba and walked towards his meow.
However, it was the third time we covered that area. He didn't start meowing
loudly until he was real hungry.
I'm considering working on a low cost homing device for cats :)
Good luck.

Now, your cat could be trapped just about anywhere and I suggest that you
look and call his name every day.
Be methodoligical in your search, covering all the area within a block or so
of your house. Also, do you have any Coyotes close by?
Hopefully not, but this does not mean that is his fate, anyway.
He could also have been chased out of the neighborhood, so expand the search
a bit.
Most of all, visit the SPCA or animal shelters close by at least once every
3 days, checking the DOA logs, too.
You will most likely find you cat alive, though.

Good luck,
T

My part outdoor/indoor cat went missing twice. Once for 26 days and then aga

We took in two feral cats several years ago and about a year after we took
them in, they got out in to the garage and got spooked and ran out of the
garage and out of site. They were missing for about 3-4 weeks. We finally
decided to leave the garage door up a little with food in there. Well, luck
of the draw, we peeked in there and found one eating food and used the
remote on the garage door and trapped it and brought it in. A few days
later, did the same with the other one. They are loving cats but still a
little skittish about strangers and unexpected events. We will always be
careful to never let them out again!
