Hello all,
I've never posted to this cat group, I'm a visitor from
alt.pets.rabbits :) My mom recently got two beautiful Siamese cats who
are about a year old now. She gives them dry food from the vet which
they like (they are in Canada) and Waltham brand wet food which they
don't like very much.
My mom is wondering what would be an acceptable commercial brand wet
food. How you find one? What ingredients and percentages should she
look for on the can? The vet has made her feel that all foods except
the ones they sell are poison. I really appreciate your help.
God Bless,
Arlette

This page may be of some help.

I have no problems with vets selling a particular brand but they should not
"push" it. Tell your mom that she should not let her vet intimidate her.
There are plenty of good choices out there. Cats can be fussy and not all
cats like the one brand of food a vet might be flogging. The vet should be
respectful of this. Do suggest to your mom that she not be intimidated by
the vet.
Anyway, when it comes to feeding my cat, though I am aware that her tastes
may change, at this point in time she's enjoying Nutro Turkey and Lamb
(canned) and Wellness Lite (dry).
Iams canned is available at grocery stores across Canada, if your mom wants
to try that. Or, if she has a PetsMart nearby, she can take a boo there as
they have many choices. If she is in Manitoba or Ontario, she can check at
Pet Valu.
Wishing all the best to your mom, and best wishes to you for helping her out
with this.

Canned food is better. Avoid by-products and look for meat being most
(if not all) of the top 5 ingredients listed.
Brands I like are Felidae, Innova, Flint River Ranch.
