Manx?  Bobtail?

My husband and I have been feeding and taming stray cats for 25 years
now!  In all that time, there have only been a handful of cats that
didn't come when spoken to.  One was a cat that we thought may have
been abused, another is this one we are feeding now.  He's been around
for about 6 months now and is just now letting us touch him. He's a
beautiful cat- has siamese markings, with a bobtail, with blue eyes.
Sort of like a ragdoll with shorter fur.  We've never had a cat
without a tail. My husband felt around his tail and noticed a ridge or
hump just above where the tail would normally be, then there is a
sunken area with a little puff of fur.  Is this normal??  My husband
thinks someone may have forcibly removed his tail, and that's why he's
so skittish.  We can't get close enough to see if there is any scar
tissue.

We ae from California, and just moved here to SC five years ago, and
we are amazed at how many stray cats are here- alot of them would be
sought after and would  bring good money in CA and get adopted fast.
This is the 3rd beautiful adult with siamese markings, blue eyes and a
bobtail that has surfaced.

Thanks,

karen

Hi Karen,
I love Manx cats; my neighbour has one and I thought I would like to
get one some day, so I was studying up on them. Apparently, there are
often tailed cats in Manx litters and they do keep some tailed cats in
the breeding so they don't get a certain deformity defect along the
line. The tailed cats are usually docked to match the tailless ones.
It is hard to tell once they are older. Manx come in all colours too,
but they have large paws, and wider faces with widely set ears.
God Bless,
Arlette

We just noticed a new kitten in the neighborhood- with a bob-tail.
Guess our stray has been around:-)

I always wanted a manx also, but they are snapped up so quickly in
Calif.  Here in SC we have the pick of the litter.  Someone left a
beautiful mother cat- manx - with beautiful babies in a box near our
mailboxes (we live in a condo). I'm thinking all the manx cats that
are showing up in this area are the work of one male cat- the one
we're feeding who's too skittish to let us touch him:-) He's very
prolific.

God bless
KS
