Thanks for the good news :-)
However I must say that if you are ever in *any* doubt about anything, the
vet *must* be the first port of call, regardless of money or any other
considerations. no vet worth talking about would quibble, the health of
the animal comes first.

As much as I hate going into debt, I thank God for my credit card in a time
like you just experienced, Destinies Spyrit. About four years ago, I came
home from work one evening and my cat was laying on the bed in his usual
place. As I removed my shoes, I reached over to give him a pat and he
screamed in pain as soon as I touched him.
I immediately wrapped him in a large towel and took him to the vet. Since
it was after hours, I had to take him to a vet emergency clinic, and they
charge a bunch.
Turns out, his hip was broken. Never found out how that happened, but he
needed surgery immediately to remove the hip. Vet says they get along fine
without the joint. Wanted $700 plus the emergency visit of $300 for a total
of $1,000. Either that or put him down.
I took him to a cut-rate vet across town, they operated on him for $150 and
the total exercise cost me $450. I slapped it on the old plastic and cheap
at twice the cost.
Smokie Joe (a gorgeous lilac-point applehead Siamese) is now five years old,
walks with a very slight limp, and climbs everywhere.
The vet bill is long since paid off and I've never regretted spending the
money.
Thank God for Plastic!
