Hello,
My mum has had Gizmo for maybe 18 months now, and he is normally a VERY
ENERGETIC cat, always fighting with your hand and playing with its toys,
never stops really.
Last week she introduced a second cat, now 8 weeks old, and at first Gizmo
and the new kitten (Mr Darcy) got on like a house on fire...
Two weeks on, its all change. Gizmo is lying in the same spot all day every
day, doesn't want to play, has a really grumpy and tired face and just seems
completely and utterly depressed. he shows ZERO interest in Mr Darcy unless
it is to hiss, spit and scratch the poor wee sod.
Any ideas? I am thinking about having Gizmo pay a visit to the vet, but my
mum says its an over reaction.
Any advice appreciated!
Gary.

Well, I would take him to the vet, just to be sure. Is he eating well? Using
the litterbox normally?

Yeah he eats lots, and always uses the litter tray.

Hi Gary ,
You're not over reacting. I would take Gizmo to the vet, he could be
ill.

It's best to be on the safe side. Cats can't tell us when they are
not well and not wanting to play and intolerence can be signs of pain
and illness. You can't assume Gizmo has got the hump becuase of the
new cat. He was fine at first so I don't see why he would change to
this extent.
Good luck and let us know what happens.

Gizmo could have a medical problem, but then again his behaviour could stem
from the fact that Mr. Darcy and him simply don't click. Over time, the
situation may change but then again, maybe it won't.
Just as people are people, cats are cats, we and they don't always get
along.
