My vet just sent out a notice about dental care and teeth cleaning. Do you
guys ever have your cat's teeth cleaned? I would imagine they can get
cavities just like us, no?

I've dropped a bundle on my teeth. I suppose I should have Isis' teeth
cleaned, too, huh?

Thanks!

Cats can get plaque under their gums just like humans
do.  The plaque can cause the gums to recede, become
inflamed, get infected.  The teeth can loosen and the
jaw bone can dissolve.  The infection and pain can
stress the kidneys and eventually kill the cat.  Hence
dental checkups and cleaning.

I've had my cats' teeth cleaned. The vet usually has to knock them out for
the procedure which costs more. The cats come home w/ a beautiful kitty
smile (and a little dopey).

One big bonus is your cat's breath will smell lovely and fresh afterwards.

Thanks to both of your for your responses.

I'm going to plan on a dental visit for Isis soon. I can't seem to get my
pet insurance carrier to give me a direct answer to the question of whether
or not an extraction would be covered but once I do that I'll know what I'm
facing should that occur.
