Alright first of hi, I'm new *wave, wave*
I'm 18, I'm a long time cat owner (cats in my house since before the
beginning of time itself).
Normally I'm used to being in the company of anywhere from 4-9 cats in
the house, most of them outdoor cats who I would bring in and they
would come in, chill out, eat food, and claw things up. So I'm used to
the various outside cat problems (fleas, ticks, ringworm, all that
exciting stuff)
Now.. almost 2 years ago me and my mom moved out of the house, and got
an apartment (where my sister soon joined us, however irrelevant that
is). Now, this was a pet-free apartment, but we were able to convince
them into letting me bring in one cat (we also snuck in an adopted
pidgeon, whom the cat doesnt mess with).
Which brings me to the cat itself. Her name is Pooka (im a Harvey fan)
and shes anywhere from 5-7 years old, I dont really keep track. Shes
always been very neurotic.. Shes very skittish, and her whole life has
basically been spent hiding in my room. When living at my fathers
house, with the many other cats, it was a constant power struggle
between them and they would terrorize her, in which she would respond
by vomitting and hiding on my bed.
Her vomiting isnt really a shock to me, because its just something she
does whenever she gets scared.
I started college this year, after having taken about a year break
where I spent most of my time at home reading. Occationally I would go
out for the night, but I would usually leave when the rest of the
family was home. Even when I would have work, my sisters boyfriend
would be home. He wasnt a cat person, really, but he was a person who
was in the house.
Now.. my sisters boyfriend has since moved out, and I have started
school. I have classes only two days a week, but they are very long
days, and the cat is left alone with the pidgeon (they dont bother
each other, though). When I come home (or my mom, depending on what
class I have), Pooka will be at the bottom of the stairs near the door
crying like a little banshee. (also, she hardly ever went down the
stairs before).
This past weekend, I went on a trip with my mother that meant we were
out of the house about 3 and a half days, I'm not sure what my sister
did, but I assume came and left liberally. When we got back, I've
noticed Pooka is acting alot more anxious, and its making me really
nervous.
While I haven't noticed more vomit (actually, unless she has and
someone else has cleaned it up without telling me, I havent noticed
any in about a week or so), but shes loosing weight. She also has a
couple bald spots. (or atleast, not completely bald, but shes a black
cat and theres afew obvious places of there being alot less fur).
She has worms, which is a problem thats come and gone for a while and
I'm working on getting medicine, but I know that wouldnt accredit all
of her problems now.
I'm getting very nervous, I came home today around 7pm and she
proceeded to lie on my shoulder (i had to hold her bottom legs, and
she kept her front claws deep into my back =x) up until maybe 11 or
12. This included when I ate pizza for dinner, walked around the
house, talked on the phone, played on the computer, etc.
Is this just stress? I've always been like a mommy to her, since I was
always the safe haven at the old house, and always cuddled her, and
she has slept in the same bed with me since she was a kitten.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make her calmer during the
day, when I'm at school, or do you think its just the added thing of
me having left on that long weekend and she needs time to adjust to my
shedual?
As tempted as I am to sneak her into class with me, lol, I dont think
that would be approved of.
if you want to talk to me directly, i have AIM, my sn is 'xvwackovx'
i'll try and check back here often, if anything thanks for reading all
of this =)

You need to take her to the vet.....if she is loosing weight and acting
more "neurotic" than usual there is a problem and you need to figure it out
before its too late
Keep us with an update about how she's doin....

She sounds more sick than neurotic. Have you ever had her to a Vet?
Doesn't sound like she has had much pleasure in her life. MLB
