Misty's done this all her life Ted. Lots of cats do it. It's because a
fat-like substance is used to coat the bags on production so they don't
stick together. The taste appeals to some cats. Misty will actually eat
them.

That explains why mine does this on and off, chews on them (I think they
sometimes lick them as well, but I know I find chewed up bag handles a lot
of times)!

Thank God. My Siamese mix just randomly started licking plastic bags one
day. She will find any plastic bag in the house, I'm fairly sure she'd
open a cupboard to get to them. It's really weird. And annoying in the
middle of the night. I'm just glad it's normal.
