I have the furriest cat in the world, and she gets constipated occasionally
from hairballs. I have always fed her S.D, when the hairball formula came
out I switched her to it, and it doesn't seem to help. She always leaves
"crumbs" of chow in her bowl, I'm wondering if the crumbs are the high fiber
portion of the kibble, since it doesn't seem to help her. She never left
crumbs from her lamb and rice meal.
Does anyone else feed their cat this, or have an idea why she doesn't
consume it all?

I gave up on SD since it has corn and wheat in it and is a lot of
filler.
I suggest feeding a premium food such as Chicken soup for Cat Lovers'
Soul
and feed moist as well as dry.

My cats prefer Welness moist, and I put CS in their bowls late in the
day.

ive been using Diamond and Max Cat for my cats, and Max Cat kitten formula
for the newborns (when they can handle dry food). my kats poop does not
stink, inbetween 2 adult cats (21lbs and 7lbs) they eat 1.5 cups of food,
and both do not shed quite as often as before.

My old vet recommended sprinkling Medimusal (sp?) on the cat's dry
food to help this problem. It did seem to work, but he has grown out
of the problem now so it is no longer necessary. If that had not
worked, he would have tried other human OTC laxative products.

I ended up putting my long haired cat on SD hairball lite formula. She
didn't get constipated but would gag/cough and not bring up anything. I had
tried petromalt but that didn't stop the gagging so I switched her food
which is working. She left a lot in her bowl at first because I don't think
she liked the food. Now however she leaves nothing. Guess she resigned
herself that it's the only game in town until the rest of them leave their
bowls unattended long enough for her to sample theirs as well.
