MMMMEEEEOOOOOWWWWWW,
I have 3 cats which I have had since the day they were born. I have
always fed them SD and Fancy Feast canned and chicken which I cook for
us all ( I just put some aside in a seperate dish in the fridge,
enough for 3-days.
Concerning the smell my advice is
1).
Feed the cat 1/2 teaspoon (mix with soft & moist food in one meal) of
BREWERS YEAST FLAKES which you can purchase in a health food store for
under $5. for about an ounce (if you cannot find any write me and I
will give you the name of a health food store in my area where I get
mine, I give it to my cats to help their coat it is loaded with B
vitamins and helps to ward off fleas in addition to the advantage I
give them. Do this every day for 3 weeks then thrice a week thereafter
it will help to "ferment" the bad "stuff" the yeast will eat up the
bad stuff.
2). Give your cat catnip. Catnip is a plant which is a relative of the
mint family. Actually, catnip is a mint plant. You should give your
cat the catnip seperately either 2 hours before or an hour after the
cat has eaten a good meal because it may excite the cat too much (you
know, like you should not swim right after you eat either) The mint
(catnip) will help to cleanse the cats system.
3. Always keep a full dish of Purina One Hairball formula around, it
is filled with fiber; this will help to cleanse the cats intestines.
4.) Do not let your cat eat anything else which it may find inside or
out be it mice, birds, etc. nor tablescraps.
5.) Kepp the litter box cleaned every day. Change the kitty litter
ever 3 days and wash out the pan. I just rinse it by filling it with a
little water swishing it around to dilute the remaining urine and dump
it in the toilet. Repeat this a couple of times to thouroughly clean
the pan before putting new kitty litter in.
6.) Make sure your cat at least is up on it's distemper shots too.
Keep to the diet as outlined above and you I hope will see an
improvement.
Observe your cat's behavior also. Is the cat acting sick, slow, have
runny eyes, not playful. If so it may indicate something more serious
but give the diet a 2 month trial and then observe the cat's behavior
again, if the behavior has changed for the better then that's a good
sign. If not it really may mean a trip to the vet for a checkup.
Hopefully the holistic approach I have recommended will work fine.
I use all of the methods above on my cats as a regular part of their
diet and have never ancountered the problem which you have described.
Although, catshit does stink especially if you let it sit in the
litter box for days on end. Dump the sh.t as soon as possible. This
may help too. Good Luck. And, again, your use of the methods I have
recommended are at you and your cats own risk.
