We have a young female cat, who was spayed when she was just over six months
old. She is now about two yeards old.  She is very healthy; but every few
weeks shows all the signs of being on heat - then she behaves like a Tom -
( wetting on every object she can find)!!! I wonder what causes this
behavior?

the signs of being in heat are catterwalling and being overly affectionate.
if she's urinating all over everything, then she probably has a urinary
tract infection, and should get to the vet.

> >She seems quite healthy,- when she "wets" it is more like the spraying
the Toms do. It could be phycological, as she was dumped in our yard as a
very small kitten ( about 7 weeks old) and was wild and ferocious, even at
that young age. She is very affectionate now -just a bit "strange'!

I had a 8 year old spayed indoor cat that started spraying all over the
house.  It was brought on by a neighbours cat who would torment my cat
through a window.  She was marking her territory inside the house!!!  I
tried everything to get her to stop.  Vet visits, medications....  After a
year of  cleaning rugs, furniture and every else, I had to put her down.
Unfortunately the longer you let them pee around the house the more of a
smelly habit it becomes.  Take the cat to the vet As soon as possible.  I
think they use Prozac or something along that line.  I'm not sure.  Good
luck.  I hope the vet helps you.  Keep us informed.  I would like to know if
anything helps.
