Hi all,
I've a cat, about 16 years old. It's an 'inside' cat and only goes out to
pee.
If there's noone to let it out it goes and does it business inside the house, at
2 spots in particular.
Now, because of that and because of the psycho neighbour next door, I've decided
to go back to 'kitty litter'.
Can an old cat be 'retrained' to use it? Once it knows it's there, will the
cat have a natural instinct to use it rather than the spot behind the computer?
Twice I got up last night and spent a good 10 min. picking up the cat (who
wanted to go outside) and put it in the box.
Cat just stared at me and walking out the box. So I pick up the cat and put it
back into the tray..... etc etc etc etc.
Any advice?

I would try a litter box near the door where he usually goes out of,
and put a layer of dirt over the kitty litter, then gradually
decrease the dirt until it is all litter. Then depending on how this
went (or if it went well, I'd move quicker) I'd start moving the
litter box to where you want it to be, moving the location by
increments. If that didn't work, I'd seclude kitty after mealtime
when nature usually calls in a room (bathroom ideally) with a litter
box (again with dirt in it) until kitty *went*. They are fast
learners.
