Do cats have an healthier sleep with specialised beds for cats

Cats can (and do) snooze anywhere, but providing kitty with his/her own
personal basket is a nice gesture on your part and gives the cat
somewhere all his/her own.

Which s/he'll probably completely ignore, because your bed is softer, bigger
and has the added bonus of smelling of you ;-)

The General mistook his new cat bed for a litter box,  though.  After
about three washes, I finally had to throw the thing out.  Maybe he
didn't like the color.
