Last week my cat spent the afternoon in the Humane society kennel, someone
had called animal control and he was picked up a block from home (why, I
don't know). A name tag on his collar saved me and him from a lot more
trouble.
Anyhow, a couple days later he came down with what appears to be a cold.
Sneezing, runny nose, lethargic, reduced appitite, extra sleeping for about
4-5 days now.
I want to know if this could be anything more serious than it seems. Should
I see my vet? Will it run a course similar to a human cold virus? How long
should it last?

It might be cat flu, especially as your cat spent some time in a kennels.
Has he been inoculated against cat flu?
Potentially, cat flu can be far more serious than just the human "common
cold." For example, in some cases eye ulcers can develop which may lead to
blindness. Kittens are especially at risk of this happening, but it's
treatable if caught early enough.
Please 'phone your vet - if your cat does have cat flu the poor thing will
be feeling miserable. Before you take your pet to see the doc, warn him
your cat may have contracted cat flu.

Yes, he does seem miserable. He is going to the vet tomorrow for an
antibiotic. Everyone I called is in agreement on that. Any upper
resperatory infection, they want to treat.
Thanks

I'd get him to the vet, it could be a case of cat flu and thats a killer
I wouldn't wait around too long either even if its not cat flu he\she
has obviously got something that needs attention, dont wait Jean.P.
