# A laid-off tyre fitter in south-west England who kicked a kitten four metres over a clothes line
# was banned from keeping animals for six months.

# Terry Harris, 25, of Yeovil, Somerset, who was convicted in June of animal cruelty, had booted
# three-month-old Jasper so hard that he broke the black and white tabby's back leg.
#
# He was seen kicking Jasper, who has since fully recovered, by neighbour Margaret Salt, who told
# the court how the feline somersaulted over a washing line before hitting the ground.
#
# "We are very pleased with the outcome," said Marie Griffiths, an inspector with the Royal Society
# for the Prevention of Cruelty against Animals (RSPCA), which brought the case against Harris.
#
# "It shows that magistrates took a very strong view on this," she said. "It was a particularly
serious
# case. It is a warning to everyone that the RSPCA will prosecute in every case."
#
# Besides the six-month ban on keeping animals, the court ordered Harris - who owns two dogs - to
do
# 180 hours of community service and to pay Jasper's vet bills.
