Hi,
I adopted a cat from the spca 2 months ago, he's now 6 months old. He's
doing that a.s dragging thing ; sitting down and dragging himself with
his front paws...like he's trying to scratch his ahole.
I've seen many dogs do this but it's the first time I see a cat doing
it. What could be the problem and what could be done?

My Xoxo likes it. I think he's just making sure his butt is clean. Is
your cat long-haired by any chance?

His anal glands may be blocked and need expressing. It wouldn't hurt to give
your vet a call and ask.

It sounds like impacted anal glands. If so, visit to the vet can easily
correct the problem.

Fluffy, our long hair tabby, ocassionaly gets a piece of poop caught on
her butt. She gets it off by dragging her butt on the floor. It leaves
poop skids on the floor, but luckily she does it right after she gets
out of the litter box which is on a vinyl floor. It would be really
unpleasant if she did it on the carpets.
