Hi there,

I have two cats that never leave the house, a male and a female.  Both
of the cats have been surgically sterilised so they cannot have
offspring.

Over the last few days, my female cat has been sat behind the front
door apparently "mesmorised" by something.  There's no glass or means
for her to see out.  Today, I noticed a rather strong urine odour from
behind the front door.  I think that perhaps a male cat is spraying on
the front door and the smell is entering the house. It's definately
comming from outside of the house and it really stinks.

Other than hermetically sealing the front door of the house, is there
anything I can do to stop this?  Is there anything I can put on or
near the front door that will repel the cat outside without affecting
the male and female cats inside the house?

Thanks in advance for any help.

When I was having this problem, not only on the door, but the BBQ cover and
gate, someone suggested I spray vinegar on these areas. I did and after
about 4 days, the problem resolved itself.

Thanks,  That's really good advice.  I'll try it out.
Kind Regards,

Do give it a shot Roger. You have nothing to lose. It may take a bit longer
than the 4 days it took me, but it only takes a few minutes to go around and
spray this and that.

Just out of curiosity I did a web search on the topic and see in two lists
for the uses of vinegar, it is #7 in one list of 50 and #4 in a list of 25
so it seems to rank up there - probably because vinegar smells pretty rank
to cats. LOLOL

I see in the second list that vinegar along with backing soda can unclog a
drain. So it's off to the bathroom sink with me to see what will happen. :c)

vinegar along with backing soda

That's what they use to power those small rockets,
so don't blow your loo up.

If you have any spare, pour a pound up the fellow with the casserole idea!
