Hello to everyone and thanks in advance for any positive replies.
I have decided that when I buy my own place in the not too distant future I
would like to buy two cats/kittens of different breeds. This is because I
will be in a flat/apartment and they can be there for each other during the
day whilst I'm at work, but will definitely get plenty of love when I return
!
I definitely want a Russian Blue because I have just fell in love with the
look of the breed and its reported temperament, but I am undecided about
what other breed to pair it with.
I have narrowed it down to these possibilities :-
* Ragdoll - amazing looking coat and suitable for indoors, although worried
it might be a bit large.
* Tonkinese (or perhaps Burmese) - nice medium sized cat with some oriental
looks but I wonder if it might yearn too much to go outside.
* British Shorthair - like the look of the cream coloured ones and there are
plenty of breeders.
* Animal shelter - I am thinking of simply visiting the shelter to pick up a
non-pedigree cat which I like the look of, but there would be some
uncertainty about the behaviour of such a cat.

It is my experience that Russian Blue and British Shorthair suit each
other well. Siamese and RBs also go well together.

Ours show no interest whatsoever in going outside.

IME, shelter cats tend to be the most loving critters of them all. We
have 3 moggies and 4 purebreds, and the moggies are as loving as the
tonks (reputably, the most loving cats there are).
Also, don't make the mistake of assuming a purebred cat is guaranteed a
certain personality. We have two bengal sisters who couldn't be more
different. One of them lives for your attention and personal contact,
the other one is fairly standoffish.
Your Mileage Will Vary. :)
