Sabrina's Mom - 01 Jun 2004 02:58 GMT
I finally picked up some rescue remedy, in hopes that it might help with
Sabrina's overgrooming of her belly area (no, its not fleas or bugs or a
skin problem, its been diagnosed by her vet as a stress related, and vet
gave me pills to give her, that worked, but how much stress do you put a cat
under to give a pill every day, in order to relieve her stress....)

Anyhow, the adult human dosage is 4 drops (so it says on the bottle).   I
gave Sabrina 2 drops on her food tonight, she ate without noticing or
objecting.   But I was wondering, what woudl be the recommended dosage for
an animal?

Most med does are geared for a 150 lb adult person.  So one drop
perhaps,
once a day?  You'll just have to monitor.

I've used rescue on Dogs (labradors) in the past and 2 drops are great for
getting them through the new year fireworks.
More evenly spaced out - i drop at each mealtime should be fine.
Then again I'm no expert so take this with a pinch of salt...

Thanks for the tip.

I know you'd think that dosage for human would be alot higher than
that for an animal, but I was also very surprised when my vet gave me
antihistime recommendations for my lab mix's allergies, the dosage of
benedryl is actually higher than the human dose.

I gave her 2 drops last night, and she ate it, but noticablility won't
happen for a while, as this is to deter over grooming.   And what -
its gonna make my cat sleepy.   Bwahahahaha...  like that would be any
different that any other time?  :-)
