I bought an expensive pair of clippers (over $100) to try to "shave"
Tiger's rear end. They didn't work very well and Tiger struggled so
much I gave up. I was able to return the clippers. A trip to the vet
is a better answer.

Any decent pet shop has fur trimmers, but why get a long-haired cat only
to trim its fur? That doesn't make sense to me. Am I missing something.

Long hair cats get poops stuck in their rear end. They also develop bad
mats even if they are groomed frequently. When I got Tiger, I had no
idea his hair would get as long as it does (he was only four months
old). I try to comb out the mats but some of them must hurt because he
objects when I do it.
