My cat doesn't like being stroked all the time. Only sometimes. When
she wants. (If a stranger comes up and strokes her she will sometimes
bite/scratch)
Often when I'm snoozing, she approaches my chest purring away. If I
stroke her head, she edges forward and sticks her head under the
duvet. At this point I can not only hear the purring, I can feel the
vibrations. The purring combined with the texture of her fur is really
nice.
If she feels I am not stroking her enough, she caresses my cheek/neck
with the back of her head.
This act makes my heart melt. (I must be such a sucker).
Sometimes she rests on top of my thigh, and curls up into a circle. If
I then call her name or gently stroke the back of her head she comes
up and tries to get under the duvet.
-------
At all other times she is averse to being stroked/touched. I mean you
couldn't just walk up to her and pick her up for a cuddle, for
example.
-------
Her behaviour when she wants food:
she meows loudly / walks and rubs her side against the leg of whoever
is in the kitchen.
When she is then given a bowl of food (from the tin) she sometimes
just looks at it and then walks away. wtf? Other times, she'll tuck
into it.
------
When there is a fly/wasp in the room:
She has to kill it. She will leap up from the floor up against a
window/wall/ door and trap the insect with her claws. She then appears
to eat it. (Er.. gross) I can't imagine insects are very nutritious or
appetizing to cats. I can only imagine she does this because she's
bored?
------
Being friends with other cats
She hates all other cats and will square up to any feline. In fact,
the fur around her face/neck stands up and she becomes more courageous
when I am around. She's a dainty little thing and would easily loose
in a fight against a large male cat, for example. But when I'm there
she'll happily start a conflict (if the other cat comes anywhere near
my front door).
But she's even hostile to other cute little cats. Why is she so
antisocial?
She is really beautiful. I love her so much.

9 out of 10 owners said their cat preferred Mac OS over other operating

Ours Siamese does that, at night. It's an infallible guide to the
outside temperature, because if it's cold, he stays put all night.
A few years ago we came back from a skiing holiday to discover that the
bolier had fritzed while we were away and the house was *freezing*. We
huddled in one room for 2 nights (got back on a Saturday, natch, and the
boiler people opened for business on Monday), in front of a fire.
Went to bed, and there was a large lump at the bottom of the bed, under
the duvet. It was aforementioned cat and his brother (now dead). Two
pairs of blue eyes plainly said: "We're here and we really, really ain't
moving..."
Nor did they.

Ours ignore the tree completely.
We did discover that the short-hair, Mitzi, loves the Clangers. (There
was a clip on HIGNFY the other night and she went to sit bolt upright in
front of the telly....)
As we speak, they're fighting under the coffee table.

cats, like all animals in my belief, have a complex range of emotions
and thoughts.
i think the food thing (turning away from it after pestering) may be
because animals watch us eat a wide variety of food stuffs and they want
to do the same...

Is that why they do it? Sometimes I wonder if cat food can turn
rancid in the can even though it has never been opened until just
now. Is that possible? if its really really cold my cat gets under
the duvet too. cats do train us. They carefully watch everything
being the most curious creatures on earth probably and then figure out
how to get the reaction they want. Its really incredible how a ten
pound creature can be so brave and exert so much influence on a great
big human being.

Get a bloody life. Human company is much better, although you may find it
challenging at first.
I hate cats- they smell and sh.t all over my garden.

And they very likely cover it up with dirt after they are finished.....Human
beings don't do that, either.....They just leave it and walk away......

Cats are like babies, only cuter. Also, they are fastidiously clean.

Funny.....I like cats better than people......I have never met a cat that
hated people like some people hate cats......

Dude, some of the most interesting replies are from Mac users. These heart
melting balls of fur affect our lives on a daily basis.

Hey, no offense to anyone, I hope. I have been a loyal MacUser since I
bought the very first one I ever saw in 1984. But it was just too good
to let it pass without comment!

One of my cats is called Max, a silver tabby. He comes under the quilt
and makes a loud purring noise and then starts digging his claws into
me and starts sucking my upper body or even the quilt itself. I was
hoping he would grow out of this by now.

I have a cat like this....Got her from my music teacher about a year
ago.....She is small, and has long hair, and is all black. (It's really dark
red, but you can only tell if she is in the sunshine.) She is good with
people, but hates all other cats. Since I have four other cats, this one is
hissing and spitting most of the time......Only now, after about a year, she
can stand to occupy the same room with any of them.....The only time I saw
her within 5 feet of one of the other cats was during a lightning/thunder
storm....She and our feral male were both in the hall as far away from any
windows that you can get inside our house.
