Both of my cats had a litter of kittens. Cat #1 had 3 kittens & Cat #2 had 5
kittens---8 kittens!  Cat #1 took all but one of cat #2 kittens. So, Cat #1
has 7 kittens and Cat #2 only has 1. Is this normal? Is this healthy? Are the
kittens going to survive? HELP!!! Why did Cat #1 take the other cats kittens
away from her?  I noticed cat #2 is sneezing alot and today it looked a
little bloody. Is she sick? Is this maybe the reason why cat #1 took the
kittens from her? I will be taking Cat #2 to the vet tomorrow, do I take the
kittens too or leave them with their "adopted" mom Cat #1???
BTW........ Both cats were rescued cats, and I was under the impression they
were fixed!! Boy, was I wrong! As soon as the kittens are weened they will be!

Might as well leave the kittens with cat #1 while momma #2 is getting
well.....It can't hurt, and it will take a load off of cat #2. If she
recovers, she can always get them back later......

Don't know that it will always happen but I've seen three mother cats
who all had litters at about the same time tend the kittens in
shifts--one would feed them for a while, then another would take over,
then the third.  Wouldn't worry about it unless one of the kittens
isn't growing.

Surprise I am sure.   I really don't know about the cat taking the kittens.
I never had two litters at the same time.

What did you find out from the vet?

I would definitely get them spayed as soon as possible.  We had our three
"strays" spayed and they seem much happier and we don't have a lot of males
hanging around.

Ignore the rude post of not much of anyone.  Most rescue animals have been
taken care of but some rescue places run out of money for that.

Hi Karen,
Thanks for your response.  I brought Cat #1 to my vet yesterday. She will be
there for a few days. She almost didn't make it, and actually still might not.
She ended up with an upper respiratory infection with her immune being so low.
She is on antibiotics, an IV, & receives nubulizor treatments 12 times a day.
My vet said it is perfectly fine for my other cat to care for all the kittens.

Yes, as soon as both cats are healthy and ready I will have them spayed. How
I will be able to afford it after the vet bill comes in for all the medical
attention they are giving to my cat now is another question.
