question about post-surgery (spay) recovery

Hello kitty lovers,

I had my two cats spayed two weeks ago tomorrow. They are acting normal and
have no problem at ALL with mobility. It's as though it never happened,
other than the embarrassing tummy baldness. However, one of them seems to be
pretty scabby around her incision area. The wound isn't open, but it seems
to be not quite healed yet. On both cats the incision area is kind of poofy.

I assume that the poofiness is scar tissue, or stitches, or just basic
swelling that will eventually either go away or just be part of them. But
the scabbiness has me a little concerned. How long did it take your cat(s)
to heal completely?

We don't have a regular vet we can call, and the clinic we took them to has
weird hours and is difficult to call. Otherwise, I'd try asking them.

Thanks,
Lisa

the scabbiness is nothing to worry about.  as for the poofiness, that sounds
like its normal too.  usually when we spay a cat, it looks like the cat has
a new long belly button, as it attached inside.. so very hard to explain in
text.. You should worry if she doesn't eat, doesn't want to play, or has a
fever.

Do you have an emergency 24 hour vet in your area? Usually they are
happy to answer questions.
