My cat has been having some colitis problems and the doctor prescribed
Tylan, possibly for the rest of the cat's life, to stop these problem. It's
only 1/8th of a teaspoon a day and it's supposed to be sprinkled into the
cat's food but the cat would rather starve than eat food with the very
bitter medicine mixed in. I have had to resort to giving it to her in two
doses of the gravy from her cat food via syringe. It's well diluted  but she
foams at the mouth and spits as much out as possible. How am I supposed to
give Tylan to her if she's going to react this way every single day?

Try using empty pill capsules
http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1&pid=891&at=0 and put the
capsule into a pill pocket

you can get the empty capsules at any drug store the pill pockets at any pet
store  for a few dollars

My cat is a tiny Abyssinian. Getting a capsule down her throat is next to
impossible. A pill pocket wouldn't fool her either. A dog, yes; a tiny 5 lb.
cat, no. But she needs this med.

Try what I said first  you never know   if it does not work  you are going
to have to put it ina syringe everyday and force feed it

unless it is possible that the pharmacist can mix it into something

also try mixing it with baby food nothing with onion in it

also do you have access to the news group rec.pets.cats.health+behav  if so
go there and talk to the other members  there are a few vet techs there and
some very knowledgeable people
