We have a former feral male cat who tests positive for the virus. He seems
to be fine, although all he does is sleep and eat. Since we got him fixed
and got his shots (about three months ago) he sticks around the house, but
he shows no symptoms of the disease. The vet says he might just be a
carrier, and never actually come down with symptoms. On the other hand, he
might start to show some symptoms at any time. We feed him and water him out
of separate bowls from the other four cats we have, and they have all had
their shots against the disease, so they are pretty safe. We make sure they
don't eat or drink out of any bowls that the feral male uses, but he gets to
eat whatever they don't like or want, which suits him fine.
