My mothers cat Chico got hit by a car today. It was such a shock as it
is a very quiet area and there is a lot of space between the bungalow
and a very quiet road. He went out for half an hour and then we called
him, Chico normally comes not long after.
We were talking about my mothers friend who was devastated when her dog
got killed the night before. Then she got a call from the Budget vet
and I thought it was about a check up for his heart murmur or for
booster vaccinations.
My mother had to give the phone to me and the vet informed me that they
had scanned him and the chip gave my mother details. We were grateful
that the lady who hit him took him to the vets rather than my mother
find him. Two years ago I picked a cat up off the road and took him to
find his owners.
He had been knocked out clean and was not in a mess but was still warm,
I was starting to get annoyed with the people in the vets though. I
would not let them cremate him and took him home and buried him.
Life is a bitch at times but it could have been worse if he was left in
the road. My mother is a strong person and has had much worse than
this to deal with, but she loved the cat and said she will not get
another.

Really sorry to hear it!
Maybe after a while your Mom will want another little friend.
You are fortunate that you had a place to bury Chico. Since my divorce I
live in an apartment instead of a house. When Abby my 15 year old Springer
Spaniel died about a year ago I didn't have a place to bury her.
Me and KittyGirl miss you Abs.

He is right outside by the front door. I will give it a while and
maybe she will want another cat. He was very good company and he was
good fun. It was such a shock and I think he must have been killed
very near. I got him when he was a kitten after my mothers partner
passed away. Will just have to see how it goes.
It looked such a safe place compared to where some people live.

Sorry to hear about your Mother's cat. If she decides to get another one
there is one thing she can do to avoid a repeat of the heartbreak, *never*
let the cat outside. A lot of things can happen outside, almost all of them
bad. A cat that never goes outside don't know what it's missing. I had a
cat that was dear to me killed by a car, I learned my lesson and now I know
better.

Shouldn't you be on alt.seduction.fast learning how to pick up women? It
might give you something to do rather than waste your miserable life
stalking me.
