My cat is about 14 years old (not sure of true age, got him as an
adult - so could be more). He is hyperthyroid and on Tapazole. He
has had diarrhea for over 3 years. Not a firm stool ever and now he
has an anal leakage issue. He was just diagnosed with skin cancer on
his nose, and the vet wants to cut his nose off but can't assure me
that it will help or they will be able to get a big enough "margin".
He occasionally yowls in a strange way, but generally he sleeps a lot
and eats like there's no tomorrow. I can't get my vet to commit to
any type of prognosis. I am not cutting off my cat's nose. I love my
cat, but am not willing to put him through that kind of pain when he
will probably die from the cancer anyway. How do I know if he is in
pain?
I felt like I did a disservice to my last cat. She was terribly ill
and in full kidney failure. She had been in the hospital for several
days when I was told there was basically no hope. I took her home for
the weekend because I wasn't ready to let her go. It was a terrible
mistake and I feel like I added to her pain. I don't want to do that
with my cat today.
Does anyone have any wisdon to share? I am really struggling with
this.

Right about here is where I thought, "if this was my cat, I'd put
him out of his misery".

I don't think you are struggling.
You know the answer already.

She has suffered long enough. Bless her and let her go. Best wishes.
