My cat was in the vet today for a check-up and pre-lab blood work for
upcoming dental work. They said she had to have a rabies and another shot
that was required (I don't recall the name and the paperwork is out in my
vehicle).
Now my cat is lethargic, grumpty, won't eat, won't drink, won't walk around.
She just wants to sleep. She will raise her head and look at me and around
the room, but just wants to sleep.
Is this a usual reaction to the shot? She was adopted and this is my first
time giving her routine shots.

Yes sometimes they have bad reaction to the shots.
Is she still responding to touch? if not call a emergency vet to see if you
need to come in.
I have heard of some cats having such a bad response you described.
How did the cat respond when it was were neutered ?
My Ka'shay and spirit I had to put a mirror in front of their noses to make
sure they were still breathing for how lethargic they became.

Out of four cats, one just gets a sore "lump" an the last acts just like you
describe. Just wants to lie there and hide, whines like it hurts if
touched, refuses water, etc. After 36 hours he springs right back and is
fine. This has happened for every one of his boosters for rabies.
The only thing to do is offer water and make sure he still responds and wait
it out. I would plan on not taking vacation just after vet trips, etc. from
now on.

NO IT IS NOT A USUAL REACTION!!!
Call the vet that gave her the shot and get her back in!!!
My one cat had the same reaction and I called vet immediately and they
said to bring her right back in and they gave her a shot of
Diphenhydrmine and Dexamethasone to counter act the effects. She was
back to her old self within no time!!! Then I posted here for purrs
for it!! This was back on 7-25-07.
I do not know why for the life of me people will post here asking
questions about a sick feline instead of picking up a phone and
calling their vet. Then post here if you want but talk to a vet first
before asking people in a news group first!!
Sometimes I wish I could get a hold of some of these people and shake
some sense into their seemingly empty heads!!!
