Hi,
The problem is probably stress related. My cat's doing the same thing when she's stressed. She's a nervous, restless creature to begin with. (in contrast to my other cat) Maybe you have more than one cat, or does it come in contact with other people or cats much? It might need a safe place of it's own. Too much attention (or that spray) might also be causing stress. My cat is more affectionate and better looking when she's happy.
Anyway, It takes several weeks/months before the coat's fully grown again. So be patient...

hi is it an indoor cat? if so she might want to go out even if she was
spayed. my nieces male does the same thing and the vet seems to think
it is a behavioral problem. alot of cats when they are upset over
various things do tend to chew and lick until there are open sors.i
sure hope she gets over this soon if not a cortisone shot helpsto
clear up any sores she might have,good luck to you and your baby.Tammy
