I once got to see a rather smallish male siamese jump to the top of a
refrigerator from a dead stop on the floor. The refrigerator was
probably a little under 6 feet; probably abut 5 feet, 6 inches, but it
was astounding to see.
I've never seen any other cat come close to doing that, twenty years
later.

Uh huh,
Biffy does. He is a big FAT Birman, but he is a powerful BIG Boy.
I have to admit that it is only when the dog next door chases him out
of their garden, but when he does chase him, he is over that 6' fence
with no problems @ all (Lol;o)...
Lilly Birman just hides in the bushes & thinks he won't find her, but
he does, every single time. The dog, only likes to shout @ them & play
with them, but when poor old Lil gets caught, she freezes like a cast
model playing dead till someone comes to rescue her..silly old cat. I
keep telling her less of the white chocolate maltesers, but will she
listen? No, so that's why we have to call her Thunder Thighs, Bless
her....!!

I'd like to see a competition. There is a dog, long jump into water and this
would be a lot better, no?

Our personal best was a little over 5 feet not just from a standing start but
the cat had been asleep less than 5 seconds before when a fly flew past and
she (Dunzi) woke up and just went straight up and snatched it out of the air
Alas she did not land too well, her sister Sarsi was crashed out next to her
enjoying the Sun, flat on her back with legs in the air and was none too
pleased to be woken by Dunzi crash landed on her tummy
