According to British newspaper the Daily Star, the newborn kitten - recently born to Doherty's adult cat Dinger - was rushed to a clinic after falling ill. Tests found it had ingested the drug. Police are now said to be investigating the matter. A spokesperson for the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Protection of Animals) says, "It is a police matter, so we cannot deny or confirm the identity of the man who had his kitten removed. But it is very important to protect animals from substances that can do them serious harm." The first question that comes to my mind is why isn't Dinger spayed? Aren't there enough cats/kittens in shelters already who desperately need homes without people breeding more into the world? In 2005 The Sun told how squirrels in Brixton, South London, became hooked on crack cocaine hidden by addicts in gardens. Residents said the tufties had bloodshot eyes and were “digging desperately” in flower-beds. As someone who has never done crack I have to ask.....if you put a crack pipe up to a cat's mouth would the cat even know what to do? Wouldn't the cat have to inhale? Color me doubtful. Maybe he is joking like a certain rocker who claimed he smoked his father's ashes? Also I can't get my cats to take medication, I can't imaging getting them to take cocain. But then my cats sometimes think they can fly too.....and all they've had to eat was their cat food.
