all of missy's toys don't have string,
lesson learned along time ago when i almost lost a furball.
i had a string with a ball attached to it, it was tied to a door knob.
kitty hung himself, luckly i forgot my cigs at home so i circled back
home and found tiger hanging, fighting to get free.
after that, all cat toys have been string/rope free.
kitty was ok, just badly frighten.

I use the feathers/string/rope toys but those are interactive with Buddy a
few feet away from me. The "string" in this case is usually pretty thick
and I haven't seen him manage to tangle himself in it yet but now I wonder
if anyone has had problems with these toys as well? I'm going to start
putting it up when I'm not home since he does drag it around from time to
time.
I recently purchased a feather that sits on top of a wind-up base that spins
for a few minutes... Buddy likes that until it stops spinning... I'd like to
find something similar that runs on batteries, or one of those mice that
moves around on its own that works on carpeting since he seems to lose
attention with most toys that don't do anything for him. Toy balls are by
far his favorite but that's because I throw them for him!
