I'm afraid I already know the answer to this question, but my brother & his
family were out of town for 3 days & nights and sis-in-law just called. They
can't find their cat, he's about 11 years old and their garage AND the
neighbor's house & garage stink of skunk. Kiki ,their cat, never strays from
the house anymore. If the skunk just sprayed him, could he have run away for
awhile because of that? I know skunks have sharp claws & teeth, but there is
no blood anywhere they would show they fought. What do you think. She's been
calling him all day. What can I do to help? thanks.

They should canvas the neighborhood, ask people nearby. Make flyers.

Yes, the skunk could very well have scared Kiki. Have them leave out
food for Kiki.

Thanks so much for your reply. He came home today!!!! We were so worried
because since I gave them to them ten years ago, he has never disappeared
for more than half a day. He is fine, thank God. (I always feel a little
guilty about him because when I found him, we had too many cats to keep him.
I thought he would be an inside cat, but since they live a place w/little
traffic and a lot acreage, they thought he'd be fine outside).
