Introducing a new kitten?

I would definately like to add another kitten to my home.  My current
cat is about a year and half old.  He is male and has been neutered.
When I start looking for another kitten, does it matter what gender of
kitten I get?

Also, any suggestions about introducing a kitten to an exsisting cat?
He is fairly easy going and has had no problems getting along with my
parents cats when I have taken him there after a little time for
adjustment.

Any  thoughts on this would be much appreciated!

It is worth thinking carefully about this if Jaxon is content. Cats are not
naturally sociable towards non-related cats. Jaxon may have been deferential
on other cats' territory, but he's likely to feel very differently towards an
incursion on his own turf.

You'll see from the above links that potential problems can be avoided by
providing "number of cats plus one" (so in your case, three) of favoured
items (all in different areas of the house), such as:

littertrays
feeding stations
high resting places
secret hiding places
